Liverpool’s official bid for Newcastle United star Alexander Isak is set to move closer.

Indeed, Isak has asked to leave Newcastle United this summer and Liverpool are keen to sign him.

The forward still has three years to go on his contract at Newcastle but, soon, PIF could have a decision to make.

While the Newcastle United owners have always insisted Isak isn’t for sale, supporters will only see how strong they are in that stance if and when a bid is made.

Until they are faced with what would surely be a huge offer to either accept or reject, no one quite knows what will happen.

While Liverpool are yet to make an official bid, it’s coming closer after recent developments.

Liverpool set to make formal offer for Alexander Isak

According to The Daily Mail, Newcastle are now braced for an offer for Isak.

The Reds have agreed to sell Luis Diaz to Bayern Munich for a fee worth around £65million, which will no doubt help towards putting a package together to try and sign the Sweden star.

An official approach for Isak is now expected in the coming days, placing a huge amount of pressure on Newcastle.

They either stand firm in their stance and keep what could be a potentially unhappy player next season, or make a drastic U-turn and suddenly allow him to go.

Whatever decision the club come to will no doubt have a profound impact on what happens next season.

Why Alexander Isak wants to leave Newcastle United

Part of the reason goes back to the summer of 2024.

Isak was disappointed he didn’t get a new contract at Newcastle last summer to reflect his standing as one of the best forwards in the game.

Furthermore, Isak wanted Newcastle to show more ambition. There are no new updates on new signings, appointments at executive level or on the training ground and stadium moves.

It’s hard to disagree with the player on any of that. What is not helpful, however, is the fact this ugly saga is being played out in public all while the club are trying to build on their best season in living memory.
