Newcastle United finally have a full set of kits for the 2025/26 season, as Adidas launch the new away jersey.

The Magpies’ new kits have gone down incredibly well so far. Newcastle fans love the new home kit, and saw Anthony Elanga score his first Toon goal in it on Sunday against Arsenal.

As for the new Newcastle United third kit, it has got a very retro feel. It is based on the away kit that the club wore during the 1997/98 campaign, and has gone down very well with supporters.

Newcastle United fans slam Adidas away kit for the 2025/26 season

However, the Newcastle United away kit for the 2025/26 season has received a very different response.

It was unveiled on Tuesday 29th July, with Eddie Howe’s side set to wear green on their travels. The official Newcastle United website states that the Adidas kit ‘pays homage to the arched-structure of the famous Tyne Bridge’.

However, Newcastle United fans are not buying it and have voiced their disappointment on X (formerly known as Twitter) following its release.

“If this is Castore there’s a riot btw,” commented this fan.

A second Newcastle United supporter added: “That is one strip I will definitely not be buying!!”

This Toon supporter asked: “We aren’t honestly pretending this is to do with the Tyne Bridge?”

“This has nothing to do with the Tyne Bridge lads ahahahah,” joked another Newcastle fan.

This Newcastle United supporter added: “It sums up our transfer window. Hideous.”

Newcastle United continue white and green kit trend after PIF takeover

While the intention of the green kit might be to represent the Tyne Bridge, it is hard to look past Newcastle United’s Saudi ownership.

Ever since PIF bought the club in October 2021 and became the Newcastle United owners, there has been a green or white nod to Saudi Arabia in one of the away kits.

This is the fourth year in a row that this is the case, and the least subtle since Adidas replaced Castore.

While last year’s third kit was white with a bit of green, it was at least based on an old Newcastle United away kit. It was retro.

In contrast, this year’s is just purely green. It is reminiscent of the green Castore kit that Newcastle United wore during the 2023/24 campaign.

Newcastle United fans are not having it, in a summer in which they are being asked to buy kits, shirts, shoes and everything in between as the club struggles to strengthen their squad.
