Alexander Isak finally says whether he would swap Newcastle for Arsenal after being asked by public figure

Alexander Isak was linked with a move away from Newcastle United in January.

After enjoying a fantastic run of form before the transfer window, it came as no shock to Newcastle United fans that Alexander Isak has his fair share of admirers.

So far this season, the Swede has scored 19 goals in all competitions including 17 Premier League strikes. Isak has failed to find the net in three of his last four games but is still ranked fourth in the league’s top scorers and is four goals away from equalling his tally from last season.

His form has meant that clubs are eyeing his signature in the summer window after failing to land him in January. Arsenal love Isak but Newcastle sporting director Paul Mitchell has made his intentions to keep him for Eddie Howe clear. Newcastle’s £150m price tag for Isak is a clear hands-off warning for any interested party.

There were suggestions that Isak could cost less than £100m, but those reports have since been quashed. The reality is that if any club wants to sign the Swede they would have to break the British transfer record.

Isak’s lucrative price tag means that he is likely to stay at Newcastle next season but that did not stop a public figure from encouraging him to move to North London in the summer.

Chunkz tells Alexander Isak to join Arsenal from Newcastle

YouTube star Chunkz has built friendly relationships with several Premier League stars. The likes of Mason Mount and James Maddison. Chunkz has also recently become friendly with Isak.

Chunkz is an Arsenal fan so when the time came to interview Newcastle stars he took the opportunity to try and convince Isak to join his club in the summer.

The YouTuber took to Instagram to disclose his conversation with the Swede. He said: “Agent Chunkz in action, Isak to Arsenal imminent.

“Just joking, he said he loves Newcastle. I tried though.”

After stalling in 2024, Newcastle want to hand Isak a new contract which would see him become the club’s highest earner and possibly take the number nine shirt depending on whether Callum Wilson leaves at the end of the season.

With Mikel Arteta now looking unlikely to land his transfer target, Arsenal are eyeing a move for Hugo Ekitike who rejected a move to Newcastle in 2022. The French star has made a name for himself in the Bundesliga, scoring 12 goals in 21 games.

Alexander Isak’s form is hugely important for Newcastle

While talk of an exit continues to circle, Isak is completely focused on Newcastle. The Magpies are in a position where they must improve on the pitch if they want to qualify for the Champions League.

The defeat to Manchester City on Saturday was their third league defeat in four games, meaning they slipped down to seventh in the table. Newcastle are now on the cusp of dropping out of the European spots which could be disastrous for their summer plans.

Howe will be keen to get Isak back up and running after he failed to score in his last two games. Before the defeat to Bournemouth in January, Isak had a sensational eight-game goalscoring run, a new club record.

With 13 games left in the season, Isak’s form is crucial for Newcastle’s hopes of playing European football next season – the futures of key players could rely on it. The Magpies host Nottingham Forest on Sunday, another huge game in the Champions League picture.
