Alexander Isak is looking sharp heading into Newcastle United’s game against Manchester City on Saturday.
Newcastle received a big boost last weekend when they won the derby against Sunderland, and that will give them newfound confidence as they prepare to welcome last season’s treble winners to St James’ Park.
Alexander Isak continued his good run of form at the Stadium Of Light. He bagged a brace in the 3-0 win over Sunderland, and it would have been a hat-trick had it not been for Black Cats defender Dan Ballard putting through his own net.
The 24-year-old now has four goals in his last three games, taking his tally to 13 for the season. He has already eclipsed his total from last year, and is only four goals shy of equalling his best ever total in his career.
It is proving to be an excellent season for the Swede, and he will be keen to excel again on Saturday.
Newcastle release training video ahead of Manchester City
Isak certainly looks confident heading into the game after watching the training video that the club uploaded to their official YouTube channel.
Eddie Howe can be seen putting his players through their paces, although there is no sighting of Joelinton. He looks set to miss this weekend’s game due to injury.
But there is an appearance from Isak, who is seen embarrassing one of his Toon teammates.
Near the beginning of the video, Matt Ritchie is talking to Anthony Gordon as Isak emerges.
At 34 seconds, Ritchie says: “Look at this guy, I can’t wait to see him train.”
Ritchie may have been having a laugh with his teammates, but the Magpies’ number 14 certainly did not disappoint.
Alexander Isak dances past Newcastle teammate Loris Karius
In the final clip of the video (beginning at 3:33), the club record signing dances past one defender before skipping beyond a desperate Loris Karius who dives to dry and deny Isak.
However, he is unable to as Isak rounds the 30-year-old goalkeeper before prodding the ball into the net with his right foot. His close control and balance was incredible, and he runs off grinning after looking back at Karius.
Even in training, Isak is special. Newcastle bought an incredible talent from Real Sociedad in August 2022, and hopefully he stays on Tyneside for a very long time.
There is a lot of talk about one of Newcastle’s biggest players having to leave the club in the near future, and Isak falls into that category.
Given how well he is playing and the fact he is only going to get better, it would be a disaster if he did leave. He is truly an elite player, and he will be keen to prove that once again on Saturday against Manchester City.
