Alexander Isak was hitting top form for Newcastle United ahead of the November international break.

The 25-year-old striker bounced back from his poor start to the season with four goals in his last four games.

Newcastle United had struggled for goals early on in the Premier League campaign but with Isak now “finding his best form”, Eddie Howe’s side won three consecutive games and climbed to eighth in the Premier League table before the break.

Alexander Isak is one of 10 Newcastle United players on international duty this week after receiving a call-up to the Sweden squad. He missed out in October due to his broken toe but has now been recalled after returning to full fitness.

He was set to be joined by teammate Emil Krafth but Krafth withdrew from the Sweden squad after suffering a broken collarbone.

Alexander Isak suffers miserable start to international break

Sweden have two Nations League fixtures on the horizon against Slovakia on Saturday and Azerbaijan on Tuesday.

Swedish media raved about Isak against Azerbaijan when the two nations met back in September, with Newcastle’s star forward scoring twice in a 3-1 win. He will hope for a similar outcome later this week.

However, Sweden’s preparation for their Nations League clashes has not gone according to plan with training abandoned due to torrential weather.

Ahead of their first match, the Swedish national team travelled to Marbella for some warm-weather training, but it turned out to be quite the opposite.

A red warning was issued for extreme rainfall and training was abandoned. The squad have since flown back to Sweden where they hope to resume their normal schedule.

Isak spoke about the chaotic start to his international break and revealed that he became worried about the situation.

As quoted by Swedish outlet Expressen, Isak said: “You got a little worried anyway. You have seen in other cities in Spain how it has been, so it was not great fun. Hopefully it won’t be too crazy.

“There was a lot of rain. It was not optimal. We had to modify the training a little. It was a little shorter, but we at least managed to get a little run in”

With training back to normal, Isak will hope to continue his goalscoring form against Slovakia on Saturday evening.
