Newcastle United have big plans to celebrate their historic Carabao Cup win against Liverpool at Wembley.
The Magpies won their first domestic trophy since 1955 earlier in March and the club are eager to ensure as many fans are able to see the Carabao Cup in person as possible.
Newcastle United confirmed plans for a celebration event a few days after the Carabao Cup win, an open-air show on the Town Moor which is estimated to be the city’s biggest-ever event with over 100,000 people expected to attend.
It was recently revealed that Newcastle asked Sam Fender to perform at the event but is sadly unable to.
Despite initial suggestions that there may not be one, Newcastle have confirmed an open-top bus parade which will take place before the monumental event on the Town Moor.
Newcastle legend Alan Shearer has been soaking up the Carabao Cup win and doesn’t look to have stopped partying. Shearer was spotted at Fender’s gig in Amsterdam to continue the celebrations, the Magpies’ all-time leading goalscorer was also caught celebrating at Wembley during the final.
Some speculated that Shearer would be a part of Newcastle’s trophy celebrations, but he has confirmed he will not, giving his reasoning for the decision.

Why Alan Shearer won’t be part of Newcastle’s bus parade
Shearer wanted nothing more than to see his team win a trophy having failed to do so while he was a Newcastle player. Newcastle held an open-top bus parade after defeats in 1998 and 1999 which Shearer labelled as ’embarrassing’ as supporters were expecting to see their team return with the trophy.
Warren Barton also claimed that there were 300,000 Newcastle fans in attendance at those bus parades, a sign of how desperate they were to see their team win something.
Now, the current crop of players can finally make Newcastle fans’ dreams come true. Sadly, Shearer confirmed on the Rest is Football podcast that he will not be on the bus with the players.
Thankfully, fans may still be able to see Shearer on the Town Moor for the event.
“I’ll be on the Town Moor, I’m not sure I’ll be on the open top,” he said.
“I didn’t do anything, but I might be on the Town Moor, definitely, yeah.”
The response sent Micah Richards into a frenzy, immediately questioning why Shearer was celebrating the win so much.
“Hold on, ‘you didn’t do anything’, you’ve been milking it for the last week!” Richards said.
“I’ve seen videos on Twitter, Instagram, everywhere. What are you talking about!”
Shearer snapped back by saying “Yeah, but I can’t be on the bus when they’ve done it and gone and won it. I won’t be on the bus, but I’ll definitely be on the Town Moor somewhere.”
Newcastle United can still celebrate something this season
The Carabao Cup win will forever go down as one of the best moments in the club’s history. Eddie Howe will also be recognised as one of Newcastle’s best-ever managers for what he has done in his three years in charge.
Newcastle figures suggested Howe should be given a statue for his efforts, joining the likes of Shearer and Sir Bobby Robson to be included in St James’ Park’s walkway.

However, the season is anything but over with Newcastle still very much in the hunt for Champions League football. The Magpies have a game in hand over Chelsea and Manchester City and could move up into fourth place by winning it.
Finishing in the Champions League spots will undoubtedly round off a truly remarkable season for Newcastle, a season that looked as if it was doomed in its early stages.
