Newcastle United are really struggling with injuries right now, but Paris Saint-Germain have their own problems ahead of next week’s Champions League game.

The two sides meet in Paris next Tuesday, with Luis Enrique’s side eager to get revenge after an embarrassing 4-1 defeat at St James’ Park last month.

Newcastle were magic, while PSG were woeful that night. But next week will be very different, on an evening where the Magpies must get something to keep their Champions League dream alive.

Eddie Howe will be missing some key players, with Callum Wilson, Sven Botman and Dan Burn set to miss out. It could also be a race against time for Sean Longstaff to return from an ankle problem.

Newcastle have problems, but so do PSG.

Warren Zaire-Emery to miss PSG vs Newcastle

The international break has not been kind to the Ligue 1 champions.

First they lost Warren Zaire-Emery to injury. The 17-year-old hurt his ankle during France’s emphatic win over Gibraltar, and will now miss the Champions League clash with Newcastle.

That is a huge blow for PSG, as Zaire-Emery has become such an important player despite being so young.

And now Enrique is going to be without another regular starter.

Marquinhos will also miss Champions League clash

PSG have confirmed via their official website that Marquinhos is going to be out of action for 10 days due to a hamstring injury.

That means he will miss the Champions League clash with Newcastle, which takes place in less than a week.

The 29-year-old suffered the injury whilst away on international duty with Brazil, where he was playing alongside Newcastle midfielders Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton. Marquinhos was forced off at half time during Brazil’s loss to Argentina, in a game that saw Joelinton receive a controversial red card.

Marquinhos and Newcastle’s Brazilian duo were set to go from teammates to opponents, but now the centre-back will have to watch on from the sidelines.
