£32m Newcastle player named an ‘outstanding talent’ after display vs Manchester United

NBC pundit Robbie Mustoe was seriously impressed with Tino Livramento’s performance for Newcastle United at left-back against Manchester United.

Livramento again was asked to play in a less familiar position by Eddie Howe due to injuries, but his qualities still shone through as Newcastle comfortably defeated Man United in the most one-sided 1-0 victory you’ll see this season.

On The 2 Robbies Podcast, Mustoe revealed how he was blown away with Livramento’s dominant display out wide and has tipped him to be a future star in the Premier League.

Newcastle’s full-backs were huge against Man United

Newcastle dominated their opposition in every area on the pitch on Saturday night, but it was out wide where they got the most success against Man United and that was largely down to the work of Livramento and Kieran Trippier.

The two full-backs, who both traditionally play down the right, have complimented each other brilliantly in the recent run of games with the duo being both excellent defensively as well as having the ability to drive forwards.

Though Dan Burn has been one of the first names on the team sheet for Eddie Howe, it’s going to be very tough for him to get back into this team if Livramento continues this incredible run of form.

Mustoe didn’t have enough words to describe how amazed he has been with the young man’s talent and is expecting to see a lot more throughout the season.

On the podcast, Mustoe said: “He’s an absolute talent. Can slot in different spots, he’s a great age, really quality on the ball, was very comfortable in an unusual position. I think this kid is a really good player.

“Watch him. Very good young player, he’s had his injury issues but he’s fit now and he’s going to be one for the future, important for our national team. I just think he’s one to watch, an outstanding talent.”

Livramento knocking on Southgate’s door

It’s still early in Livramento’s Newcastle career, but he has been playing at an unbelievably high level ever since his first start against Manchester City in the Carabao Cup.

It may be a little premature in claiming that he could be on the verge of an England call-up, but while Southgate has an abundance of talent at right-back, the left-back position is not so stacked.

Aside from Luke Shaw, there is certainly a spot open for a talented full-back to come in and make a name for himself on the national stage, and there’s no reason why that cannot be the £32m summer signing.

If he continues to play the same way he did against Man United, PSG and Chelsea, it will only be a matter of time before Newcastle have another player in the England setup.
