Newcastle United have released an update from their training ground on Thursday ahead of the game against West Ham.
Toon fans face an agonising wait to see their beloved Newcastle United in action, with Eddie Howe’s side the last to play following the international break.
Newcastle face West Ham at St James’ Park on Monday night, with the Magpies the favourites based on current form. Julen Lopetegui is under pressure heading into the game, while Newcastle should be full of confidence after winning three in a row before the international break.
The Magpies also have no fresh injury concerns heading into the game, although there is one suspension to deal with. Emil Krafth remains injured, while Dan Burn will be absent as he serves a one-game ban after picking up his fifth booking of the season in the 3-1 win over Nottingham Forest.
Callum Wilson update from Newcastle United training ground on Thursday
That will give Lloyd Kelly the chance to start at centre-back for Newcastle, and he has been spotted in the club’s official training photos from Thursday’s session.
Newcastle United have uploaded a selection of photos from the training ground, as Eddie Howe put his players through their paces on a cold Thursday on Tyneside.
But while Kelly joined the likes of Anthony Gordon, Sandro Tonali and Joelinton, one player was conspicuous by his absence.
There was no sign of Callum Wilson in any of the Newcastle United training photos from Thursday.
It has been reported that Wilson will be back in training this week, as he eyes his first appearance of the season against West Ham. In fact, Wilson has even told Newcastle fans that he will be ready to play against West Ham.
This casts some doubt over the £20million man’s availability, but there will still be at least a couple more training sessions before Monday’s game against West Ham.
There is also the possibility that Wilson has merely just not been photographed. He may have trained, we just have not seen him.
Eddie Howe will provide an update on Wilson’s availability when he speaks to the media on Friday morning, with Kieran Trippier also likely to be a topic of conversation. It has been hoped that he will return from his injury against West Ham too, but he has also not been spotted in any of the training photos.
Some Newcastle players yet to train after international duty
Elsewhere, the likes of Bruno Guimaraes, Miguel Almiron and Alexander Isak were also not seen in Newcastle United training on Thursday.
That will be because of their international commitments, with their final games for their countries taking place on Tuesday night and in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
There are no concerns over Bruno and Isak, who will almost certainly start for Newcastle against West Ham on Monday night. As for Almiron, he will continue to settle for a place on the bench.
