Eddie Howe is on course to receive a Newcastle United injury boost ahead of facing West Ham on Monday night.
The Magpies can turn their attention back to the Premier League, with the final international break of 2024 now over.
The Newcastle United internationals have played a lot of minutes, and will benefit from their first domestic game back being delayed until Monday night. While the schedulers have hindered West Ham United fans, the timing of the game certainly benefits Newcastle United.
Eddie Howe could also be set to receive good news on the injury front, as his squad looks set to get a little bit stronger ahead of the game against the Hammers at St James’ Park.

Positive Callum Wilson injury update ahead of West Ham

Newcastle United have been without Callum Wilson all season. The 32-year-old suffered a back injury in pre-season, before sustaining a subsequent hamstring problem.
It has resulted in Wilson playing zero minutes, with his comeback constantly being delayed.
But there could now be light at the end of the tunnel.
According to the Shields Gazette, Wilson is set to be involved in Newcastle United training later this week, having missed the club’s warm weather training camp in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Callum Wilson’s Newcastle return is perfectly timed
In an ideal world, Wilson would have returned to fitness much earlier than this. It has been a very frustrating 2024 for the Newcastle number nine, who has only started two competitive games this year.
His absence has put pressure on Alexander Isak, who has endured his own injury issues this season. Isak is fully fit now, but was suffering from a broken toe.
But with the 25-year-old fit again and finding his form, this is a good moment for Wilson to return. There will be no immediate pressure for him to start games, which is ideal. In the past, he has returned to fitness and been immediately forced to start games, which has only risked further injury.
There is also the added bonus of Wilson possibly returning against West Ham. The £20million man has an incredible record against the Hammers, scoring more goals against them than any other side. In total, Wilson has scored 12 goals in 14 games against West Ham during his career.
He will hope to add to that tally on Monday night at St James’ Park, with Wilson telling Newcastle fans that he will be fit to face West Ham earlier this month.
