‘Brilliant’ Newcastle player now ruled out of at least their next six games

Newcastle United’s luck with injuries leaves an awful lot to be desired.

Last season, the situation got so bad at Newcastle that Joe Cole questioned what exactly was going on behind the scenes, as players kept being ruled out of action.

The appointment of James Bunce as performance director and the reduced schedule facing Eddie Howe’s side should, at least in theory, help avoid another such crisis this time around.

Still, injuries are simply part of the game.

Newcastle have been without Sven Botman, Jamaal Lascelles and Callum Wilson all season so far. Kieran Trippier and Alexander Isak have missed games at times, as has Anthony Gordon.

The exciting Lewis Miley, meanwhile, is only just coming back from a fairly lengthy layoff.

Hopefully, the likes of Trippier and Wilson will return soon – particularly ahead of the frantic fixture schedule in the build-up to the festive period.

Newcastle, however, have been dealt a blow.

Newcastle injury blow as “brilliant” player ruled out for an extended period

Indeed, according to The Daily Mail, Emil Krafth is facing an extended period on the sidelines.

The defender was forced to pull out of the Sweden squad earlier this week, having also missed the Premier League win over Nottingham Forest.

Now, the report claims the 30-year-old will miss up to eight weeks out of action due to a broken collarbone and is almost certainly expected to be ruled out of Newcastle’s next six fixtures.

Eddie Howe will be gutted at Newcastle’s latest injury blow

Howe believes people outside the club seriously underrate the “brilliant” Krafth, such is the high esteem in which he’s held on Tyneside.

With that in mind, it’s gutting to lose Krafth, particularly given Dan Burn’s suspension against West Ham.

Newcastle simply do not have the strength in depth in central defence to lose players at this stage of the season.
