Plenty of Newcastle United’s youngsters have received first-team opportunities this season, and there is a possibility we might see one more get a chance.

Lewis Miley is the standout, having established himself as a Premier League regular during a difficult winter for Newcastle United. Injuries handed the 17-year-old a chance, and he grasped it.

Elsewhere, other academy lads have been given senior minutes by Eddie Howe. We have seen the likes of Joe White, Ben Parkinson, Amadou Diallo, Alex Murphy and Michael Ndiweni make their Toon debuts.

Due to the club’s injury crisis, Howe has had to put his trust in the kids at times this season. Those injury problems have somewhat subsided now, but there is still a chance for another youngster to make his first appearance in black and white.

Alfie Harrison could possibly make Newcastle United debut this season

That is according to the Athletic, who state that Alfie Harrison has an outside chance of featuring in the Newcastle United first-team before the end of the 2023/24 Premier League season.

He signed for the Magpies earlier this year, arriving from Manchester City for a fee that could rise to £3.5million.

Harrison is an attacking midfielder, and moved to Newcastle after being given a clear path towards first-team football. The 18-year-old is an exciting talent, and has already netted his first goal at youth level for the club.

The teenager has made a strong early impression on Tyneside, and seemingly it may even result in him representing the senior side before the current campaign comes to an end. That would be very exciting for Harrison, and vindicate his decision to leave Man City for Newcastle.

For now, the Athletic believe it is just an ‘outside chance’ for Harrison. It may all depend on what Newcastle are playing for at the business end of the season, as well as who Howe has available to him.

But, as small as it might be, Harrison does have a chance.
