Newcastle United look set to be without one of their Champions League ever-presents for the game against Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday night.

The Magpies have enjoyed a decent start in Europe, but their Champions League hopes did take a hit when they lost 1-0 to Dortmund at St James’ Park.

Now it is time for the reverse fixture, as Eddie Howe takes his team to Germany. However, the Newcastle team that will take Dortmund on will be a bit different to the one that faced them on Tyneside.

That is because the Magpies are suffering from a few injuries. Jacob Murphy is not going to feature, while it would be a shock to see Alexander Isak involved despite his return to training. Newcastle will also be without Sandro Tonali, who is suspended.

And now Newcastle are going to be without another player against Dortmund.

Dan Burn looks set to miss Borussia Dortmund vs Newcastle

According to the Chronicle, Dan Burn is likely to miss Newcastle’s fourth Champions League game this season due to the back injury he sustained in the 1-0 win over Arsenal.

Burn landed awkwardly after going up for a header, and was forced off at half time.

Having started all three of Newcastle’s Champions League games so far, the £13million defender now looks set to miss out.

That is a huge blow for Eddie Howe, who will have to make a change to his back four.

With Burn likely to miss out, that means someone else will have to play left-back.

One man it won’t be is Matt Targett, as he is also injured after going off against Manchester United last week.

That means it is probably going to be a toss up between Tino Livramento and Lewis Hall. One of them looks set to start in the Champions League for the first time ever.

Hall is a more natural replacement at left-back, but it was Livramento who got the nod at half time against Arsenal. He replaced Burn ahead of the second half, with Kieran Trippier moving over to the left of defence.

That worked very well against the Gunners, and it could be the route Howe goes down in the Champions League.
