Newcastle United’s squad should not be any weaker when they face Aston Villa on Tuesday night.

The Magpies returned to action on Saturday, beating Fulham 2-0 in the FA Cup to progress to the fifth round. They will face either Blackburn Rovers or Wrexham in the next round.

But now Eddie Howe can turn his attention back to the Premier League, where he faces a tricky trip to Aston Villa. Unai Emery’s side are flying this season, looking to accomplish what Newcastle did last season and qualify for the Champions League.

As for Newcastle, they are looking to salvage their Premier League campaign. There has been a huge drop off as of late, with injury problems crippling Eddie Howe’s side.

There were fears that things had got worse on Saturday, with Kieran Trippier limping off in the 86th minute to be replaced by Emil Krafth. The 33-year-old appeared to have an issue with his groin, but it sounds like he is going to be good to go at Villa Park.

Howe has spoke to the media ahead of Newcastle’s trip to Aston Villa and provided an injury update. According to the Daily Mail’s Craig Hope, Kieran Trippier is ‘ok after groin soreness at weekend’.

That is excellent news on Trippier, just days after he expressed his desire to remain on Tyneside.

The defender has been heavily linked with a move to Bayern Munich, with claims that he actually did want to leave Newcastle and sign for the German giants.

But Bayern would not meet Newcastle’s £20million asking price and have now moved on. As for Trippier, he has openly admitted that he is happy wearing black and white.

Now the £12million man will be looking to get back to his best, having struggled during the winter months. He looks certain to start again on Tuesday night, and will likely captain the side like he did during the 2-0 win over Fulham.
