One Newcastle United player has now committed his future to the club after speculation that he could be leaving in January.
Newcastle have had a whole host of players linked with moves away this window which has prompted some concern amongst the supporters.
However, Kieran Trippier, who was linked with a move to Bayern Munich, has now confirmed to BBC Newcastle that he will be staying at Newcastle and that he’s 100% committed to the club despite the January interest.
Trippier confirms he’s not leaving Newcastle in January
At one point it did look like Trippier’s head had been turned and that Eddie Howe was about to lose one of his most important players to a European giant.
It was reported that Bayern had initially submitted a loan bid before placing two permanent bids, the latest was understood to be around the £12m-£13m mark as they looked to find a new right-back.
However, all three bids were rejected by Newcastle who deemed Trippier too valuable to let go for what they signed him for two years ago from Atletico Madrid.
Although he’s 33-years-old with 18 months left on his contract, Newcastle clearly feel like losing the stand-in captain in January would do more harm than good as they look to climb back up the Premier League table.

Newcastle looking to have a quiet end to to the transfer window
Despite all the speculation of possible outgoings, Newcastle could be set to have a very quiet end to the January window with new signings very unlikely given the lack of funds.
With Champions League now looking out of reach, there’s not an awful lot left to play for, but a place in the Europa League is still up for grabs and Newcastle will have to go on a good run very soon if they are to achieve it.
As no players look very likely to sign any time soon, Howe will be relying on those coming back from injury and the fact they are now back to playing one game a week to help them on their way to qualification.
