Jason Tindall ‘absolutely delighted’ as Alexander Isak responds to Newcastle United frustration

Alexander Isak has set remarkably high standards at Newcastle United.

Isak is arguably Newcastle United’s most important player, which is some going given the sheer number of stars the club have on the books.

This season alone, the forward has scored 25 goals in 37 appearances across all competitions.

As such, Isak has been hailed as “world class”. Indeed, it’s difficult to think of a better striker in the world right now.

Still, even the best forwards miss chances. In the Premier League this season, Isak, Mohamed Salah and Erling Haaland are all amongst the forwards who have missed the biggest chances.

Isak hadn’t actually scored for the club in two games heading into Newcastle’s 5-0 win over Crystal Palace on Wednesday night.

To describe that as a goal drought would obviously be ridiculous. He, after all, provided a glorious assist from which Sandro Tonali scored during the 4-1 win over Manchester United last weekend.

Still, the 25-year-old did snatch at a few chances against Palace before finding the net in the second-half and Jason Tindall was delighted to see one go in for him.

Jason Tindall delighted for Alexander Isak

The Newcastle United assistant manager was again in the dugout as Eddie Howe continues to recover from pneumonia

Watching on, Tindall admitted Isak would have been frustrated by some of the missed chances up until the goal, which came just before the hour mark.

That took his tally up to 21 in the League alone this season, putting him level with Haaland and six behind Salah.

Speaking to the BBC, Tindall said: “I thought it was going to be one of those nights for Alex.

“He had a couple of big chances before he actually scored his goal, which I’m sure he’d have been frustrated with and disappointed with.

“But it was great that he got his 25th goal of the season. He’s a top, top player as we know. One of the best that there is out there and I’m absolutely delighted for him.”

Ian Wright slams “disrespectful” transfer talk about Alexander Isak

Isak has been strongly linked with a move away from Newcastle. Quite why he’d want to leave right now is unclear and it’s important to say the forward has given no outward indication he’s looking to move on.

After all, Isak is under contract at Newcastle until the summer of 2028 and the fee to potentially sign him would surely be huge.

Pundit Ian Wright believes the constant Isak rumours are disrespectful to Newcastle and, frankly, he’s correct.

Isak surely isn’t going anywhere right now.
