‘Instead of Isak’… Arsenal fans wowed by £28m Newcastle United ace’s display

Newcastle United’s fine form continued on Tuesday night.

Indeed, Eddie Howe’s side beat Arsenal 2-0 in the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final at the Emirates Stadium and will duly take a big lead back to St James’ Park at the start of February.

While Newcastle had to do a lot of defending, they were good value for their victory.

For all of Arsenal’s possession, Howe’s side limited them to very few clearcut chances.

When defending so valiantly, it’s up to the attacking players to make the difference. And that they certainly did.

Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon scored the goals to hand Newcastle a huge advantage.

Isak scoring felt of particular importance. The striker is consistently linked with a move to the Gunners and, naturally, their supporters were impressed.

Still, Isak was not the only Newcastle player to have caught the eye on what was a brilliant night.

Lewis Hall was another standout.

Hall initially struggled at Newcastle but is now looking worth every penny of the reported £28million it took to sign him.

In excellent form this season, the left-back dazzled at the Emirates.

“We need to hit the Newcastle shop. Isak yes but Gordon or Hall would also be amazing,” added one particularly confident Arsenal fan.

Another added: “Lewis Hall is very good.”

“Can’t believe Chelsea sold Lewis Hall lool quality player,” joked one supporter.

Another Arsenal fan proclaimed: “I am a fan of Lewis Hall btw! What an absolute unit this guy!”

Newcastle star Lewis Hall is going to have a great career

With Hall showing such improvement with so long of his career to go, the sky really looks to be the limit.

Alan Shearer, after all, recently predicted that the 20-year-old could nail down the starting role at left-back for England for the next few years.

Certainly, it would be foolish to doubt Hall on that front.

He’s been absolutely brilliant all season and is increasingly looking like an absolutely almighty bargain.

It may have taken a while for Hall but patience has been a virtue.

What a player Newcastle and England now have on their hands.
