There were wild celebrations as Newcastle United beat Chelsea.

The Magpies are now agonisingly close to securing Champions League football.

Newcastle’s win over Chelsea puts them on the brink of qualification. They could even finish as high as second in the Premier League.

Going into Sunday’s match, Newcastle United knew it was their biggest Premier League game of the season.

Eddie Howe’s players treated it as such, rising to the occasion to win 2-0 thanks to goals from Sandro Tonali and Bruno Guimaraes. Newcastle were inspired by Bruno’s team talk, as they took a giant step towards bringing Champions League football back to St James’ Park.

Injured Newcastle United star celebrates beating Chelsea

As is the case with every Toon win, the players and staff celebrated by taking a team photo in the dressing room.

That tradition continued on Sunday, and there were a couple of interesting figures present for the post-victory snap.

Despite missing the game, Kieran Trippier was there.

There was also an appearance from Lewis Hall, who has not played for the Magpies since the end of February.

Hall suffered a season-ending injury, with the left-back needing surgery to sort out a problem with his foot.

That injury forced him to completely miss the Carabao Cup final. He was not even at Wembley for the game against Liverpool, with the Newcastle players facetiming Hall afterwards.

But he was at St James’ Park on Sunday, and was part of the celebrations after the final whistle.

Jason Tindall recently said that Hall’s recovery is going well, as he aims to be fit in time for pre-season.

Newcastle United wind up Chelsea after St James’ Park victory

Whoever is in charge of the music inside St James’ Park was keen to wind up the Chelsea fans after the win.

Immediately after the full-time whistle, Parklife by Blur began to blare out. Their frontman Damon Albarn is a fan of the Blues.

After that, Chelsea Dagger by the Fratellis began to play. It did not take a genius to work out what was going on given the title of the song…

This appears to be becoming a regular occurrence at St James’ Park. After beating Crystal Palace 5-0, Newcastle played Glad All Over by the Dave Clark Five. That is famously a Crystal Palace anthem.

After Newcastle recently beat Man United at home, they played Step on by Manchester band the Happy Mondays.

While it is just a bit of fun from Newcastle United, it does seem a bit unnecessary.
