Bruno Guimaraes inspired Newcastle United to a pivotal victory against Chelsea on Sunday.
The Magpies are now on the brink of Champions League qualification, with goals from Sandro Tonali and Bruno Guimaraes giving them a 2-0 win at St James’ Park.
Newcastle United were boosted by Nicolas Jackson’s red card, with the Chelsea striker sent off in the 36th minute for an unsavoury elbow on Sven Botman.
Eddie Howe’s side are up to third in the Premier League table, and can finish as high as second if they win their remaining two games. They face Arsenal away on Sunday before entertaining Everton at home on the final day of the season.

With Newcastle winning the Carabao Cup, this is already the club’s greatest season in living memory. But they are always striving for more, and that was Bruno’s message to his teammates before Sunday’s game.
Bruno Guimaraes’ inspirational pre-match team talk before beating Chelsea
During an interview with the Athletic, Bruno has revealed what he told the Newcastle United players just moments before they faced Chelsea.

“We love this type of game,” he said.
“We have a lot of big players here, so it’s a good one for us.
“My message for the boys (beforehand) was: ‘Of course we won the cup. It was massive for us, but it’s not enough’.
“I told them: ‘We want more. We want to play Champions League next season’. We have to dream big.”
What Bruno told Newcastle teammates before the Carabao Cup final
In his first season as Newcastle United captain, Bruno has lifted a trophy. Now he could be leading the club back into the Champions League.
Bruno has grown as a leader at Newcastle, and his team talks are proving to be inspirational.
That was the case on Sunday, as the Magpies put in the type of performance they needed to move incredibly close to securing Champions League qualification.
It was also the case at Wembley in March, as the 27-year-old addressed his teammates before they took on Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final.
Speaking about his team talk at Wembley to Sky Sports, Bruno recently said: “I said to the boys we go to the pitch as players and leave there as legends.”
These Newcastle United players are legends now. What they have achieved is absolutely incredible, and the club will be in a great position to kick on even more if they qualify for the Champions League.
With two games to go, that now looks extremely likely.
