Newcastle United are without manager Eddie Howe for Saturday’s Premier League clash with Aston Villa.
Newcastle United will instead be in the hands of assistant manager Jason Tindall, who has overseen two consecutive wins since stepping into Howe’s role.
Howe is recovering from pneumonia, having been admitted to hospital before Newcastle’s 4-1 win over Manchester United on Sunday.
Newcastle then thrashed Crystal Palace 5-0 on Wednesday night to continue their march towards what could be a return to Champions League football next season.

Eddie Howe update ahead of Newcastle United vs Aston Villa
Clearly, health is the most important thing right now. It goes beyond football and rest and recuperation cannot be rushed.
Newcastle will not rush Howe back into the dugout until he feels ready. So far, the club have confirmed that Tindall and fellow coach Graeme Jones will oversee the Villa match, but a decision is yet to have been announced about what happens after that.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference on Friday, Tindall said: “There’s no fresh update since Wednesday’s game. He’s recovering at the minute and as soon as there’s any more updates the fans and media will be the first to know.
“Everyone needs to step up and they have done that. The love has always been there for me, the manager, and the team.
“That’s important – everyone is behind the team. I’m just doing the best that I can. I don’t take any notice of what people say. All I’m here to do is the best job for this football club.”

This season, Newcastle have won both the games he has overseen, with the team scoring nine goals and conceding only one in the process.
Tindall also took charge of the 3-3 draw against Brentford back in November 2021 after the Newcastle United manager tested positive for Covid-19.
