Brentford have officially lost Bryan Mbeumo, and they could also lose Yoane Wissa amid interest from Newcastle United.
Mbeumo was a Newcastle United target, but the 25-year-old is now officially a Manchester United player. He has moved to Old Trafford for £71million, which reinforces why Newcastle United thought he was too expensive.
The Cameroon international’s partner in crime at Brentford was Yoane Wissa, and he is another player who could leave the Gtech Community Stadium. It has been reported that Newcastle want Wissa, as they aim to bring in an alternative to Liverpool-bound Hugo Ekitike.
The Magpies could be in luck, as it is claimed that Wissa wants to leave Brentford.

Yoane Wissa says he and Bryan Mbeumo have gone from ‘friends to enemies’ after transfer is confirmed
It would be a huge blow for Brentford to lose two of their best players in one summer, having also seen manager Thomas Frank and captain Christian Norgaard leave for Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal respectively.
Amid fears that a fourth major name could depart, Wissa has sent a message to Mbeumo on his official Instagram account following his move to Manchester United.
Alongside a picture of the pair celebrating together, Wissa wrote: “We will talk about this in 10 years time. Thank you boss. From friends to enemies.”
As it stands, Wissa and Mbeumo will be enemies when Brentford face Manchester United. However, that could change to when Newcastle face Man United, should Eddie Howe get his wish.
Newcastle United have two key worries regarding Yoane Wissa
While Wissa is a player who Newcastle United are interested in, there are no guarantees that they formalise that interest and bring him to Tyneside. There are a couple of major factors that could stop a deal from materialising.
The first problem is Newcastle themselves. They like Wissa, but do have some reservations. The biggest is his age, with the 28-year-old turning 29 in September. That is a slightly older profile than what the Magpies usually try to bring in.
The other big problem is Brentford. Are they going to be willing to let Wissa go after losing so many key figures this summer? Even if they do, they are in a strong position to command a sizeable fee. Following Mbeumo’s £71million departure, the Bees are certainly not shy of cash.
That brings us back to the first problem. Wissa’s age would not be a problem if he was going to be available for a bargain fee, but that is not going to happen. If Brentford slap a £50million price tag on the forward then it is extremely difficult to see Newcastle doing a deal.
As ever, there are a lot of moving parts at a time when transfers are moving at a ridiculously slow speed for Newcastle United.
