Alexander Isak wants to leave Newcastle United, and it’s not just about money.
Indeed, while Isak wants to earn £300k-per-week, his decision to try and leave Newcastle United is not purely because of the finances that could be involved.
Isak wants to leave Newcastle despite the fact they won the Carabao Cup in March and qualified for the Champions League a few months later.
That is worth considering. Why, in these circumstances, would a player want to leave? Money of course plays a part, but Newcastle were prepared to make Isak their highest-paid player.
Now, more insight has emerged, and it is not a good look for PIF.

Alexander Isak wanted Newcastle United to show more ambition
According to The Daily Mail, Isak wanted the Newcastle United owners to show more ambition.
While he was said to be furious he wasn’t offered a new contract in 2024, the situation goes even deeper than that.
It’s claimed that Isak and others within the Newcastle United squad want the owners to act on the ambition they say they have.
The players still want fresh signings and a new training ground to underline their progression. Nothing appears to be moving at any great speed.
It’s also added that while Isak has a great deal of respect for the people he works with and Newcastle fans, such a feeling does not perhaps extend to the rest of the club.
What Eddie Howe has said about Newcastle United keeping Alexander Isak
Eddie Howe remained confident that Isak would still be a Newcastle player next season when speaking after the pre-season defeat to Celtic on Saturday.
The Newcastle United manager said: “I’m confident he will be a Newcastle player come the end of the window.”
There are reasons to believe Newcastle won’t sell Isak this summer. They do not need to, although Howe has an almighty job to get the player’s head right if he does end up staying.
Newcastle value Isak at more than £150million, however, and a bid of that magnitude may be too good to turn down in the eyes of the owners if Isak really is that unhappy.
