Newcastle United are long-term admirers of Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
The striker has been linked with a move to Newcastle United for multiple years now, and talk of a Toon transfer continues as he enters the final few months of his contract at Goodison Park.
He is on course to be available on a free transfer, and Calvert-Lewin is a contender to replace Callum Wilson at Newcastle United.
While he might not be a popular addition, Newcastle face a difficult task replacing Wilson. Calvert-Lewin feels ideal, whereas the prospect of signing a supreme talent like Jonathan David is pure fantasy. The only way he arrives is if Alexander Isak leaves, which no Newcastle United fan wants.
Ben Jacobs makes Dominic Calvert-Lewin to Newcastle prediction

Newcastle United’s interest in Dominic Calvert-Lewin is no secret, but there are no guarantees that he will arrive at St James’ Park ahead of next season.
In fact, journalist Ben Jacobs has told NUFC Matters on YouTube why he does not think the 27-year-old will join Eddie Howe’s side in the summer.
“I don’t think Newcastle [is where Calvert-Lewin will go],” he said.
“Newcastle basically had a deal with Everton, but not with Calvert-Lewin. I’m not sure his individual demands and all the affiliated costs of the deal have really changed.
“My gut feeling is that Dominic Calvert-Lewin will go elsewhere.”
Jacobs added: “I don’t think Newcastle and Dominic Calvert-Lewin, from what I hear, has as much legs as it did six or 12 months ago.”
Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s strong transfer position
As Jacobs says, Newcastle very nearly signed Calvert-Lewin during the summer. The initial plan was for Newcastle to bring in the striker, while Yankuba Minteh would go the other way and join Everton.
That was when both clubs were aiming to comply with PSR.
But the plug was pulled on the Calvert-Lewin deal, with personal terms proving to be an issue.
Jacobs thinks they could be an issue this summer too, which is understandable. Calvert-Lewin will be in a strong negotiating position, as he will not carry a fee due to being a free agent. It is the same reason why Lloyd Kelly was able to earn bigger wages at Newcastle, as the Magpies did not need to pay Bournemouth to sign him.
That could be a factor that stops Newcastle signing Calvert-Lewin.
Regardless, there is no doubt that the Magpies must bring in a forward in 2025 no matter what. Callum Wilson looks set to leave Newcastle, while Howe is yet to truly put his trust in Will Osula as Alexander Isak’s understudy.
