Newcastle United have been linked with selling Miguel Almiron all summer.
The Paraguayan almost left Newcastle United at the start of the year, only for Miguel Almiron to decide against a move to Saudi Arabia.
Since then, it has looked extremely likely that Almiron would be sold by Newcastle this summer. There has been interest in Almiron from Saudi Arabia, while there was also a chance for him to go back to the MLS.
However, Almiron’s move to Charlotte FC collapsed in August, with money proving to be an issue. Almiron’s wages were too much, and that then forced Charlotte FC to lower their offer to a sum that was not acceptable for Newcastle.
Miguel Almiron linked with late Newcastle exit
With the MLS transfer window closing and no hint that Almiron would fancy a move to Saudi Arabia, it has looked increasingly unlikely that the 30-year-old would leave St James’ Park.

However, that slightly changed when it emerged that Fulham were looking at a possible deal for Miggy.
Geordie Boot Boys were told that Fulham are one of multiple clubs interested in Almiron, and that he could potentially leave Newcastle United on transfer deadline day.
However, a departure would only be sanctioned if a replacement was lined up.
Update on Miguel Almiron’s Newcastle future
But now Ben Jacobs has provided a fresh update on Almiron’s future live on TalkSPORT (11:27am), and it does not look like he is going anywhere.
Jacobs has noted that Fulham were keen, but a deadline day move is not on the cards for Almiron.
“I am told it will not happen,” he said.
“He stays at Newcastle United.”
Newcastle set to persevere with Almiron in attack
At the start of the summer, Newcastle’s plan was to level up. That would likely result in Almiron leaving the club, and an upgrade coming in to take his place.
However, the situation now is that Almiron will remain at St James’ Park, with no other right winger joining to enhance Eddie Howe’s squad.
Newcastle are going to persevere with the speedster, despite his recent struggles in a black and white shirt.
Eddie Howe has already stated that he will work hard to get Almiron back to his best, and that is now pivotal.
He will dovetail with Jacob Murphy down Newcastle’s right, while Anthony Gordon and Harvey Barnes will compete for a place in the team on the opposite flank.
Alternatively, Howe could opt to move either Gordon or Barnes over to the right. That could be a solution to Newcastle’s right winger problem if Almiron fails to improve.
