Lewis Hall has endured a difficult time of things since joining Newcastle United.

The teenager has been limited to only 11 appearances across all competitions since moving to Newcastle on loan from Chelsea despite an injury crisis ravaging Eddie Howe’s side for much of the campaign.

Though those behind the scenes at the club insist the 19-year-old is seen as a long-term investment, there is little doubt that things haven’t worked out as planned just yet.

Still, Newcastle are expected to complete a permanent deal to sign the youngster for £28m this summer.

Insight into when they may confirm that has now emerged.

Lewis Hall: When Newcastle could confirm transfer

Indeed, according to The Daily Telegraph, sources suggest Newcastle’s Premier League position may be relevant when it comes to actually announcing the Hall deal.

There are even said to have been suggestions that the club could wait until they are mathematically clear of relegation to confirm the transfer.

Lewis Hall: Anthony Gordon an example for Newcastle youngster

Getting to grips with life under Howe is not exactly a new phenomenon at Newcastle.

Anthony Gordon, after all, did not exactly impress in the immediate aftermath of his £40m move from Everton. It even took Bruno Guimaraes a while to get into the starting eleven upon his initial arrival at St James’ Park and now the idea of playing without him is hardly worth thinking about.

Gordon, meanwhile, has gone on to become one of the Premier League’s standout players this season. Though suggesting Hall will get to that level feels somewhat premature, there is at least a precedent set when it comes to players improving over time.

This season hasn’t exactly been the perfect scenario in which to bed in young players, either. So many injuries and maddeningly difficult cup draws have not made things easy.

There is still reason to be hopeful in regards to Hall.
