Tino Livramento has been linked with a move away from Newcastle United this summer.

Livramento has proven an excellent signing for Newcastle United since arriving from Southampton in the summer of 2023.

Newcastle paid around £32million for Livramento and he’s proven to be a bargain. Operating as either a right-back or a left-back, the 22-year-old has been fantastic.

As such, the England international is attracting glances from elsewhere. Manchester City want to sign Livramento, although even they will struggle to get him out of St James’ Park

Indeed, some positive noises have emerged from behind the scenes.

Newcastle United respond to Man City’s interest in Tino Livramento

According to The Northern Echo, Newcastle have absolutely no plans to sell the defender.

It’s said that any approach from the Etihad giants will quickly be rebuffed, such is the club’s desire to keep the defender on Tyneside.

Eddie Howe and the rest of the Newcastle recruitment staff believe Livramento to be a huge part of the club’s plans going forward.

City, it seems, will have to look elsewhere.

Newcastle United struck gold after transfer U-turn

The club didn’t actually plan to sign Livramento when they did.

Newcastle accelerated a move to sign Livramento when Southampton were relegated in 2023, changing their plans in order to land a hugely promising defender when he became available.

It’d be fair to say they struck gold. Livramento man-marked Mohamed Salah out of the game in the Carabao Cup final, while also playing a role in Alexander Isak’s goal at Wembley.

Selling him would be unwise. He’s still got so much of his career ahead of him, and is already proving one of the best full-backs in the Premier League

It’s fantastic to hear City’s interest will be swiftly rebuffed. Livramento is a huge part of Newcastle’s plans going forward.
