Newcastle United have Giorgio Scalvini on their radar as they get set to sign a centre-back this summer.
The 21-year-old defender has emerged as an option for Newcastle United, with other centre-back targets moving elsewhere.
Newcastle wanted Dean Huijsen, but he has gone to Real Madrid. On top of that, Newcastle are set to miss out on Illia Zabarnyi to Paris Saint-Germain.
Marc Guehi is an option for Newcastle, but Liverpool currently appear to be the favourites to secure his signature.
Newcastle United discover Atalanta’s stance on selling Giorgio Scalvini
That is why Toon officials are looking for alternatives, and their search could take them to Italy. Newcastle are fans of Scalvini, who could be available for a move away from Atalanta.

That is according to the Northern Echo, who report that an ‘attractive offer’ could convince the Serie A club to cash in on Scalvini this summer.
The door is very much open for Newcastle United to sign Scalvini, but only if they cough up enough cash to convince Atalanta to sell.
The Magpies are prepared to invest heavily in a right-sided centre-back. It was recently reported that Newcastle want to spend £40million on Guehi, while there was a willingness to activate Huijsen’s £50million release clause.
It remains to be seen what Scalvini’s price tag is, and whether or not that correlates with what Newcastle United value him at.
Newcastle United are also fans of Scalvini’s Atalanta teammate
Scalvini is not the only Atalanta player that Newcastle United admire.
Geordie Boot Boys understand that Newcastle remain fans of Brazilian midfielder Ederson, who could be an option to replace Joelinton if he moves to Saudi Arabia. There is interest from the Middle East in the 28-year-old, despite Newcastle’s desire to keep him.
During 2024, Newcastle regularly scouted Ederson and Scalvini, as they pondered utilising the Italian market once again.
The Magpies’ last acquisition from Italy has worked out extremely well. Two years on from his £55million arrival from AC Milan, Sandro Tonali has established himself as one of the Premier League’s best midfielders.
