Newcastle United look set to miss out on another major transfer target this summer.
Eddie Howe is eager to add a new centre-back to his Newcastle United squad, with Marc Guehi heavily linked. Elsewhere, Newcastle spoke to Dean Huijsen about a move, but he has chosen to join Real Madrid.
Another central defender that the Magpies want is Illia Zabarnyi. He has excelled for Bournemouth, but had looked set to remain at the Vitality Stadium.
Bournemouth have not wanted to sell Zabarnyi, but it suddenly looks like they might have to.

Illia Zabarnyi makes transfer decision after Newcastle United interest
That is not because Newcastle United are keen to sign him. Instead, it is because PSG want Zabarnyi.
Geordie Boot Boys have spoken to TBR Football’s chief correspondent Graeme Bailey about the Zabarnyi situation, with the transfer insider stating that the 22-year-old has made it clear he wants to head to Paris.
“So, Zabarnyi does look like he is going to go this summer, but as with Dean Huijsen his former central defensive colleague, he won’t be staying in England,” he said.
“Newcastle are one of a number of Premier League clubs who like Zabarnyi a lot. He has been brilliant since arriving in the Premier League.
“But Paris Saint-Germain have had contact and the player wants to join them, and when the European champions come calling it is hard to say no.”
Bournemouth want £50million for Zabarnyi, and it looks like they could get it from the 2025 Champions League winners PSG.
One more Bournemouth player linked to Newcastle United transfer
Newcastle United have looked at Huijsen and Zabarnyi after their Bournemouth heroics, but are set to sign neither of them.
As the transfer window rumbles on, there is one more Bournemouth player who the Magpies have taken a shine to after his performances at the Vitality Stadium.
Newcastle are interested in Antoine Semenyo, who scored 13 goals and provided seven assists for the Cherries this season.
He is on Eddie Howe’s list of winger targets, as Newcastle aim to sign an alternative to Bryan Mbeumo.
Semenyo ticks a lot of boxes for Newcastle, but the main issue could be the price. It has been reported that Bournemouth want £70million for Semenyo.
They are under no pressure to sell, with Huijsen already joining Real Madrid for £50million. Bournemouth are also set for two more major exits, with Zabarnyi and Milos Kerkez on course to depart.
With so much money coming into the club, Bournemouth can hold out for the fee they want for Semenyo.
