What Chelsea have told Noni Madueke after he misses out on Newcastle transfer

Newcastle United failed to sign Noni Madueke from Chelsea this summer.

The Magpies were eager to add a new right winger to their squad, which resulted in Noni Madueke being linked with Newcastle United.

He was an interesting target, with Newcastle seeing Madueke as a player with lots of potential.

The hope was that he could maybe realise that potential at St James’ Park, as Chelsea stocked up on attackers. However, the signing of Pedro Neto did not result in the Blues allowing Madueke to leave.

Instead, it emerged that Chelsea valued Madueke at £60million. That was obviously too much for the Magpies, who ended the summer without making any major signings.

However, it has been reported that Newcastle’s January priority is to sign a winger, and it will be interesting to see if Madueke is on Paul Mitchell’s radar once again.

Noni Madueke ‘fighting’ for his future at Chelsea

There could certainly be an opportunity to sign the England international, as Madueke has been told that he is fighting for his future at Stamford Bridge.

That is according to HITC Football insider Graeme Bailey, who has spoke to Geordie Boot Boys about Madueke’s current situation at Chelsea.

“Madueke, Nkunku and Mudryk have all been told they’re fighting for their future at Chelsea, which is not a massive surprise considering the number of attackers they’ve got,” he said.

“From what I am told, they’ve all reacted quite well and realise they are fighting for their futures. What Chelsea have been impressed by is that none of them have spat their dummies out. Instead, they’ve reacted well.

“Madueke looks as if he is in the prominent role right now, but we know that can change very quickly with Chelsea.”

Madueke has started the season very well for Chelsea

As Bailey notes, Madueke is one of the three Chelsea players that have responded well to being told they are fighting for their futures.

At this moment in time, Madueke is proving he does have a future in West London. He is establishing himself as Chelsea’s first choice right winger in the opening stages of the 2024/25 season.

The 22-year-old has made six appearances so far, scoring four goals. Three of those came at Molineux, as Madueke bagged a hat-trick in a 6-2 win over Wolves in August.

Newcastle United really liked Noni Madueke

Given his form, Madueke will probably end up staying at Chelsea.

However, a lot could change between now and the January transfer window.

Once 2025 arrives, Newcastle will be restarting their search for a winger, and it will be interesting to see whether they have moved on from Madueke or decide to target the attacker again.

Interestingly, it was recently reported that Newcastle saw Madueke as the perfect player.
