When Newcastle United decide on a player, it seems they are prepared to go to great lengths to sign him.
Indeed, both Anthony Gordon and Sven Botman were signed in the transfer window after they were first linked with a move to Newcastle.
Such has been the coherent transfer planning at Newcastle for most of the PIF era, it seems they are willing to wait to land their man.

It doesn’t always work, of course. Newcastle did go big on the pursuit of Marc Guehi this summer, to the point where they didn’t have time to sign another player when they were rejected by Crystal Palace.
Still, it would seem unlikely things will change at St James’ Park. The transfer policy may have been criticised by sporting director Paul Mitchell but has worked for Eddie Howe, even if the club have to be better at selling players.
With that in mind, it’s not unusual to see the same named linked with Newcastle for months on end.
One of those is Burnley goalkeeper James Trafford and a fresh update has now emerged.
Newcastle United are set to accelerate transfer interest in James Trafford

According to The Sun, Newcastle are lining up a fresh £20million move for the Clarets stopper.
Still, with Scott Parker’s side eyeing promotion, it is claimed they will look to block any move for the 22-year-old.
James Trafford wants to join Newcastle in 2025
It seems the only sticking point here is convincing Burnley to sell, whether that comes during the season or in the summer of 2025.
Trafford, after all, is said to be keen on a move to Newcastle.
While Nick Pope is currently the No.1 under Howe, the England international has been tipped to leave at some point and the options behind him don’t look overly convincing long-term anyway.
With that in mind, Trafford looks a logical addition.
