It will be fascinating to see what happens with Antonio Cordero after Newcastle United reportedly won the race to sign him.
Cordero is thought to have been Newcastle United’s latest signing, said to be set to join from Malaga this summer.
Fabrizio Romano has claimed Newcastle have signed Cordero, albeit there is yet to have been any official communication from the club.
The 18-year-old has risen to prominence with Malaga in the Spanish second tier, scoring six goals and registering eight assists in 55 appearances from what has largely been a left-wing berth.
Barcelona attempted to sign Cordero but it appears Newcastle have won the race. Porto and Real Madrid were also linked but the teenager now looks bound for St James’ Park.
Newcastle plan to loan Cordero out next season and a report from Spain names a European giant as his potential next destination.

Antonio Cordero could join Ajax after Newcastle United move
According to Spanish outlet AS, Newcastle believe the teenager could develop in the Dutch Eredivisie.
Yankuba Minteh, of course, joined Feyenoord from Newcastle in 2023 and impressed during his loan there so much that Brighton paid big money for him last summer.
The report suggests Ajax are interested in the teenager, having made their admiration known since way back in December.
It remains to be seen if the Amsterdam giants – one of the traditional giants of European football – are the ones to eventually land him but the report suggests they are the “best-placed team”.
Newcastle United fans buzzing after Antonio Cordero move
Clearly, it’s difficult to know just how good the teenager is.
The level of interest in him would certainly suggest there’s a talent there, but he remains relatively untested, so there’s little point in suggesting Newcastle have landed a generational talent at the expense of others just yet.

However, the move to sign him has certainly excited supporters online.
Newcastle fans were delighted with sporting director Paul Mitchell for signing Cordero, hoping he has unearthed a real gem who can star for the first-team in the years to come.
