The clubs Joelinton’s agents could offer him to if Newcastle contract talks fall through

The prospect of losing key players has been something Newcastle United have had to deal with of late.

While it wasn’t really an issue for Newcastle to consider in the initial wake of the PIF takeover, things have changed since.

Kieran Trippier, after all, was linked with a move away during the January transfer window. Bruno Guimaraes, meanwhile, continues to be touted for a potential exit at the end of the season.

Off the pitch, Dan Ashworth opted to join Manchester United, albeit that move is yet to be ratified.

Then there’s Joelinton. While there were recently claims a pay rise was coming for the Brazilian amid a contract dispute, Craig Hope recently suggested there was yet to be any movement on that front.

Now, The Chronicle have offered more insight.

Joelinton: Newcastle transfer news

While they claim Newcastle are still pushing to tie the 27-year-old down to a long-term new contract, the report shares potential clubs Joelinton may be offered to.

It is claimed that his agents, the ROGON group, will tout him around a number of clubs. Bundesliga trio Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and – surprisingly – Freiburg are named in the report.

They also suggest teams in the Saudi Pro League could also be interested.

Joelinton contract: Newcastle must agree new deal

Joelinton has previously played in Germany of course and it would be foolish to suggest a move to a club as big as Bayern would not be tempting.

Still, Dortmund – while a big club – aren’t noted for their superstar signings. They have largely tended to move for young players before selling them on. Freiburg, meanwhile, looks like a step down from Newcastle.

So valued by Eddie Howe and a huge part of Newcastle’s rebuild since the takeover, it would be gutting to see Joelinton continue his journey from Premier League flop to Brazil international elsewhere.

Hopefully, a deal can be done.
