Newcastle United legend Paul Gascoigne has given Anthony Gordon some advice amid doubts about the England international’s future at the club.
Liverpool have been linked with a £100million move for Gordon, who came close to joining the Reds last summer.
Thankfully, Newcastle do not need to sell Gordon this summer. Still, there’s little doubt that the 24-year-old is coming off a strange campaign, during which he failed to really build on his breakout season in 2023/24.
Still, there were plenty of mitigating factors for that. Gordon returned to Newcastle’s pre-season late after being away with England at Euro 2024 and did suffer with injuries as well as a high-profile red card during the season.
There can be little doubt as to his quality, hence why Liverpool are seemingly keen on landing him for the second year in a row.
Gascoigne, however, wants him to stay.

Paul Gascoigne tells Anthony Gordon to stay at Newcastle United
The Toon legend was speaking to Sporting Talk in an interview posted on YouTube.
Gascoigne said Gordon would stay at the club if they offered an increase in his wages, which of course they already did back in October 2024.
He then talked of what an “unbelievable” club Newcastle are to play for.
When asked if Gordon should stay at the club, Gascoigne said: “Newcastle’s an unbelievable club to play for, you know?

“Like I said, the people are at work all week just to see the game on a Saturday.”
When put to him that the fact the club are “going places” should be a reason to stay, the Newcastle United legend said: “Yeah definitely, without a shadow of a doubt.
“The way they finished [the season] at the end was fantastic. And they’ve had a great season. The fans deserve it.”
What Anthony Gordon has already said about his Newcastle United future
Gordon has dropped a hint over his Newcastle future by claiming he was “looking forward” to seeing supporters next season on social media.
Clearly, that doesn’t mean he definitely will stay, but it was a notable thing to say given all the speculation before the season finished.
Howe will no doubt back himself to get Gordon back to his very best next time out. With a summer off, he’ll hopefully return to St James’ Park in a much better place than he did last year.
While cashing in would bring obvious financial benefits, there’s every reason to think Gordon can get back to his best at Newcastle next season.
