Oliver Glasner is still unable to say whether or not Marc Guehi will stay at Crystal Palace amid interest from Newcastle United.
The Magpies are hoping to complete a deal for the 24-year-old, but their interest in Marc Guehi has developed into quite the saga.
Newcastle United are still yet to agree a fee with Crystal Palace for the defender, with the transfer window set to close on Friday.
Interestingly, it had been reported that Newcastle would walk away from the Guehi deal if it was not agreed before Saturday August 24th. That deadline has passed, yet there are no suggestions that the deal is off.
Marc Guehi started for Crystal Palace again on Saturday
But there is still no agreement, and that was very evident when Oliver Glasner confirmed Guehi would play for Palace against West Ham.
The England international captained the Eagles on Saturday afternoon, but was unable to inspire his side on what was their first home game of the season.

Crystal Palace lost 2-0 to West Ham, and Guehi certainly did not cover himself in glory for Jarrod Bowen’s goal. He put himself in no man’s land, as Bowen was played through to double the Hammers’ lead in the second half.
Oliver Glasner comments on Guehi’s future
It is now two defeats from two for Crystal Palace. It is also two full 90 minutes in a row for Guehi, despite intense speculation that he could leave the club and join Newcastle United in a club record deal.
With the clock ticking, it remains to be seen whether or not Newcastle will reach an agreement with Palace, and Glasner has been very non-committal about what the future holds for his captain.
Following the 2-0 defeat to West Ham, Glasner was asked by BBC Sport if there are any ‘assurances’ that Guehi will remain at Selhurst Park.
“You never have any assurance until the window ends,” he said.
“I don’t know what will happen.”
Newcastle’s Marc Guehi desperation could be highlighted against Bournemouth
While Glasner is unsure whether or not Guehi will stay at Crystal Palace, Newcastle prepare to face Bournemouth without a proper right-sided centre-back.
Fabian Schar is suspended for Sunday’s game on the south coast, as he serves the first of a three match ban after his red card against Southampton. Elsewhere, Jamaal Lascelles is injured.
That means that Emil Krafth will probably start at centre-back next to Dan Burn, despite him actually being a right-back. But the Swede is versatile enough to slot in, and Howe was impressed with Krafth when he came on last week.
Krafth features in our predicted Newcastle United XI to face Bournemouth, and the Magpies’ hope will be that they can cope defensively without Schar. If their shortcomings at the back are exposed, it may only strengthen Crystal Palace’s position heading into the final few days of the summer transfer window.
Regardless, Glasner does not know what will happen with Guehi, and has refused to guarantee that he will stay at Crystal Palace.
