Nottingham Forest’s stance on selling Elliot Anderson to Newcastle United in January has become clear.
The 23-year-old is attracting a lot of attention following his emergence in an England shirt, with Newcastle United fans watching on enviously at a player who was once theirs.
The hope is that he could be theirs again one day, with Newcastle United keen to re-sign Anderson in the future.
While Anderson would like to return to Newcastle as well, that reunion is not going to happen in early 2026.

Nottingham Forest will not sell Elliot Anderson to Newcastle United in January
The Magpies face competition from Manchester United for Elliot Anderson’s signature, but it would appear that neither side are going to be able to strike a deal in the next couple of months.
According to the Telegraph, Nottingham Forest are not going to sell Anderson during the January transfer window.
The report adds that the midfielder will be in ‘serious demand’ next summer, especially with Thomas Tuchel expected to rely heavily on him at the World Cup.
However, even a summer deal could be beyond Newcastle United, with the Telegraph reporting that Anderson could follow the likes of Declan Rice and Jack Grealish by costing £100million or more.
That kind of money would make him Newcastle’s most expensive signing ever, eclipsing the £69million spent on Nick Woltemade in August.
A price tag of at least £100million surely rules out a return to St James’ Park. While he would be a dream signing for Eddie Howe, that fee is surely not achievable given the Magpies’ PSR concerns.
