Newcastle United have made signing Nottingham Forest man Anthony Elanga their priority in the summer transfer window, and Forest fans are far from pleased.

As has widely been reported, Newcastle United are very interested in Anthony Elanga. The Nottingham Forest star helped Nuno Espirito Santo’s side reach the Conference League last season, but he could be tempted by Champions League football this summer.

The Magpies have already made an approach for the Sweden international, with Forest rejecting a £45m bid for Elanga earlier in June.

While there is a lot of time left in the transfer window, it is clear that Newcastle fans are getting restless and are dying to see a new player come through the doors at St James’ Park.

With Newcastle very keen on signing Elanga, Forest fans have made their feelings clear on selling one of their star players.

Newcastle United told to show the money for Anthony Elanga

It has already been made clear that Forest are not willing sellers of Elanga this summer, but the 23-year-old could be tempted by playing alongside fellow Swede Alexander Isak outside of the international break.

Additionally, Elanga has William Osula at Newcastle. The pair are in each other’s comments sections on social media, striking up more belief that he could join. Despite that, Forest fans have made it clear on social media that Newcastle will have to pay a significant amount of money for Elanga this summer.

Speaking on the social media platform X, one Forest fan said: “If you want him, you’ll have to pay more than he’s probably worth. I like him as a player (still a bit raw and lightweight at times mind) but I think there’s probably better value elsewhere,” while another Forest fan said: “Every player has a price. If Newcastle want him so badly they’ll pay the price and Forest will accept. Can’t imagine Elanga has any issue playing at Forest or Newcastle next season and would be happy at either.”

Another Forest fan said: “Clutching again.”

This Forest fan referred to Liverpool’s interest in Isak: “You’ll have loads of money for Elanga now it’s been reported Isak is off elsewhere.”

This Forest fan added: “Why would we (sell) unless you’re prepared to pay way more than anything sensible?”

Finally, this Forest fan said: “Cheers for letting us know the money is there…raise the fee.”

Newcastle United launch new bid for Anthony Elanga

After their initial bid was rejected last month, it was clear that Newcastle were not going to go down without a fight. The player is valued at around £60m, but Newcastle feel they can get him for a smaller transfer fee.

It has been confirmed by the Chronicle that Newcastle have launched a second bid for Elanga, with this one totalling £50m. The new offer is still short of what Forest are looking for, so it is likely that this one will also be rejected.

However, if there are some strong feelings from the players side, Forest could be forced to accept a bid lower than their valuation for him. That remains to be seen, but there is a lot of hope that the deal will get done this summer.

Keith Downie said Elanga to Newcastle “will get done” in a recent video. The Sky Sports reporter is confident that the winger will be a Magpie come next season. A place in the starting XI is waiting for him, but a deal must be agreed before they can go any further.
