Newcastle United will surely be encouraged to sign Yoane Wissa after he released a bombshell statement asking to leave, but Jorgen Strand Larsen is still on their radar.
The transfer window closes on Monday evening, but the Magpies are not finished with their business.
Following a goalless draw against Leeds United on Saturday evening, Eddie Howe confirmed that he would like one more signing for Newcastle United before the deadline at 7pm tomorrow.
Geordie Boot Boys understand that Newcastle want to sign another striker, with Yoane Wissa one of the options on the table.
Brentford were rocked on Sunday morning when Wissa released a statement saying he wants to leave and claiming there were written assurances that he would be allowed to go if a reasonable offer came in.
In the meantime, Wolves striker Jorgen Strand Larsen is of interest to Newcastle, who have already had two bids rejected for the 25-year-old. With Wissa’s statement a clear ‘come and get me’ plea, journalists in the North East have provided an update on Newcastle’s interest in Strand Larsen.

Newcastle United still hopeful of signing Jorgen Strand Larsen from Wolves
The Magpies’ interest in Strand Larsen is rather strange. Of course, he looks a great talent who has proven he can score goals in the Premier League, but he has only just completed a permanent move to Wolves after his loan last season.
Strand Larsen has politely asked to leave Wolves to join Newcastle, so the player is up for the move, but the Midlands side are very reluctant to sell, especially this late into the transfer window.
Vitor Pereira expects Strand Larsen to be a Wolves player after the transfer window, but that has not stopped Eddie Howe from trying to get the striker’s signature.
According to Craig Hope, Newcastle are ‘still trying’ for Strand Larsen. Though it remains to be seen whether they will have much luck.
Nick Woltemade was confirmed as a Newcastle player on Saturday, so Howe has the quality striker he was desperate for this summer, but with time left in the window, there could still be some movement.

Newcastle United need to sign someone happy to play as a backup striker
William Osula started his first Premier League game for Newcastle against Leeds on Saturday, but failed to live up to expectations after finally being given his opportunity.
It is clear that another striker needs to be signed before the window closes, whether it is Wissa or Strand Larsen, someone needs to come in.

However, there could be doubts over whether Strand Larsen will be keen on acting as a Callum Wilson replacement, effectively meaning a player who will come in where required.
Wissa would be a better option in this case, but with Brentford asking for a staggering £65m, it is unlikely they will get a deal done.
Newcastle have an incredibly tough task of signing a new striker before the deadline on Monday evening, but someone needs to come in.
