Newcastle United are on course to sign Fraser Forster on a free transfer, Geordie Boot Boys understands.
The Magpies are looking for homegrown players ahead of their return to the Champions League, and Fraser Forster is someone who came through the Newcastle United academy.
He is going to be available on a free transfer, with the 37-year-old set to leave Tottenham Hotspur when his contract expires at the end of June.
Newcastle United are interested in Forster, and a return to Tyneside could now be on the cards for the England international.

‘Looks like’ Newcastle United will sign Fraser Forster
Geordie Boot Boys have spoken to TBR Football’s chief correspondent Graeme Bailey, who has been told that Forster is one of three goalkeepers Newcastle United are looking at.
However, it is the former Celtic star who is most likely to arrive at St James’ Park ahead of the 2024/25 season.
“It looks like Fraser Forster is coming in, from what I have been told,” he said.
“They had a list of three goalkeepers they were looking at: Forster, Tim Krul and Jak Alnwick.
“I believe that Forster is the favourite to arrive.”
Who Fraser Forster would replace at Newcastle United
If Forster does join Newcastle United, he will be their second signing of the summer.
Newcastle have announced the arrival of Antonio Cordero, who is joining on a free transfer from Malaga.
There is a lot of excitement surrounding the teenager, but Toon fans will have to wait to see the best of him. Newcastle are going to loan Cordero out, as he gets set to continue his development away from Tyneside.
As for Forster, he would arrive to become Newcastle’s fourth-choice goalkeeper.
That honour currently belongs to John Ruddy, who joined the Magpies 12 months ago on a free transfer from Birmingham City. However, it has been reported that Ruddy is going to leave Newcastle United when his contract expires at the end of June.
Forster would be a like-for-like replacement, while he would also go down as a club-trained player for the Champions League squad. That is a major bonus ahead of Eddie Howe’s side returning to Europe.
A return to St James’ Park would give Forster a chance to realise one of his dreams. Back in 2023, Forster said he is desperate to play for Newcastle United at St James’ Park after failing to do so during his first spell with the club.
