A Newcastle United transfer target looks to be in demand this summer.
Despite a disappointing season for Ipswich as a whole, Newcastle United are taking note of Liam Delap’s fine individual performances.
Newcastle are interested in signing Delap and it’s easy to see why. The 22-year-old has scored 12 Premier League goals this season in a team relegated with little more than a whimper.
Still, they aren’t the only club keen on the former Manchester City youngster. According to iNews, Everton are also interested in Delap.
Which is why a recent decision from the striker looks a little strange, particularly from a Newcastle perspective.
Liam Delap signs wall outside Everton’s Goodison Park
Everton played against the Tractor Boys on Saturday. It ended in a 2-2 draw after the away side fought back from two goals down to claim a point in what was the penultimate game at Goodison Park.
After the game, Delap was seen signing a wall inside a house just outside Goodison Park.
According to The Times, the striker is the “latest footballer” to do that, so perhaps it’s a tradition not particularly well known outside of Evertonian circles.

Having impressed in an underwhelming team this season, the England U21 international seemingly has his fair share of suitors.

Manchester United are also interested in Delap, who came through the ranks at rivals City before leaving on a permanent basis last summer.
Crucially, he also looks to be attainable without breaking the bank.
Delap has a £30million release clause in his Ipswich contract, which became active when they were relegated – ironically enough by Newcastle last weekend.
A guarantee of goals in the Premier League is hard to come by, so that reasonably low price will no doubt be tempting interested parties further up the table.
