Your daily Newcastle United transfer updates and rumours, including promising new developments for Premier League stars Anthony Elanga, Joao Pedro and James Trafford.
Now two weeks in, the transfer market looks to be picking up for the Magpies, much to the delight of the fans.
Newcastle United have already made one signing in Antonio Cordero this summer, and it looks like the next faces will come through the door which will directly impact Eddie Howe’s starting XI.
Deals are progressing as we head towards the PSR deadline. It is believed that Newcastle will be more active in the transfer market once the deadline is passed and the Magpies receive their £73m PSR boost when their heavy losses drop off the three-year cycle.
Newcastle have made Joao Pedro, James Trafford and Anthony Elanga their priorities in the early stages of the transfer window, and a new update has emerged regarding those deals.

Newcastle United table bids for Joao Pedro, Anthony Elanga and James Trafford
It is looking like good news on Tyneside, as deals appear to be progressing for the Premier League trio. According to the Telegraph, Newcastle have made bids for Pedro, Elanga and Trafford in recent days, though it is believed that they have all been knocked back.
Pedro’s bid from Newcastle is reportedly £50m, less than the £60m Brighton are hoping for. The Brazilian has made it clear that he wants to leave the Seagulls this summer and it looks like the North East will be his next destination.
For Elanga, Newcastle still seem to be locked in negotiations with Nottingham Forest over a deal. Newcastle had a £45m bid rejected for Elanga, and Forest are adamant that he is not for sale.
Trafford’s bid was believed to be worth £25m plus add-ons. The Magpies have held a long-term interest in the England international, and it looks like they could get the deal done this summer.

Aston Villa could sell their women’s team to avoid PSR breach
This time last summer was complete chaos at St James’ Park. Newcastle officials needed to find north of £60m to avoid a points deduction for the season. They were forced to sell bright talents Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh to make up for the losses, two players who went on to have bright seasons at Forest and Brighton respectively.
This summer, Aston Villa have their own PSR struggles, and The Athletic have reported that they are considering selling their own women’s team to make up for the losses. The report suggests Villa have lost around £195m over the last two years and are now scrambling to make ends meet.
Newcastle will understandably be livid with Villa, who are exploiting loopholes to balance the books, whereas the Magpies did everything by the book with some creative transfer market moves mixed in.

James Trafford agrees personal terms with Newcastle United
The final, more positive news is that it now looks like Newcastle are advancing in their hopes of completing their second signing of the transfer window.
Trafford is open to joining Newcastle like he was in 2024, and according to Fabrizio Romano, has agreed on personal terms with the Magpies over a deal.
It is now down to Newcastle and Burnley to agree on a transfer fee for the shot-stopper who kept 29 clean sheets in the Championship last season.
On the social media platform X, Romano said: “James Trafford has fully agreed personal terms with Newcastle and talks between clubs keep advancing. No agreement yet on fee with Burnley but the expectation remains to get it done in the next days. #NUFC confident as reported.”
