Newcastle United could be set for a big summer in the transfer market.

Although it remains to be seen if Newcastle United reach the Champions League or not, it seems players could finally start joining the club once again.

Newcastle sources are confident they can sign players this summer, having seemingly managed the books in order to comply with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).

Indeed, Newcastle want to sign at least three first-team players this summer, which will no doubt be a boost to Eddie Howe.

The Newcastle United manager hasn’t seen his squad properly strengthened since the summer of 2023. Now, however, all of that could be about to change and links with Jack Grealish refuse to go away.

Newcastle United set for transfer surprise after interest in Jack Grealish

Newcastle are interested in signing Grealish and the 29-year-old has been tipped to leave Manchester City on loan.

According to iNews, Grealish is admired by those inside St James’ Park.

The report also adds that there may be “recruitment surprises” this summer. Newcastle already boast both Anthony Gordon and Harvey Barnes on the left wing, but it’s claimed the club may have to “listen” to offers for both if they emerge.

Any move for the City star would be controversial. Grealish infamously criticised former Newcastle player Miguel Almiron in 2022, describing a poor performance from Bernardo Silva as “playing like” the Paraguayan.

How Jack Grealish feels about joining Newcastle United this summer

Approaching 30 and reportedly on huge wages at his current club, moving for the former Aston Villa captain would not fit the transfer strategy generally deployed by PIF at Newcastle. According to Capology, Grealish is paid around £300k-per-week.

The Newcastle United owners have largely tried to sign younger players, although Nick Pope, Kieran Trippier and Chris Wood do prove exceptions.

That’s not to say Grealish couldn’t add something to the squad, just that a signing of his profile would not be in keeping with the general recruitment plans on Tyneside over the last few years.

For his part, Grealish reportedly wants to join a foreign club if he leaves Man City this summer.
