Newcastle United were recently offered Manchester City star Jack Grealish, his transfer stance has now been publicised.

The Magpies need improvements to their starting XI this summer in preparation for a return to European football.

Despite the season having three games remaining, it has been confirmed that Newcastle United will play European football next season after winning the Carabao Cup in March.

Eddie Howe’s side have qualified for the UEFA Conference League thanks to their historic cup win, but it is looking increasingly likely that they will be in one of the bigger European competitions thanks to their league position.

Newcastle are aiming for Champions League qualification this season and will move one step closer to achieving their goal with a win over Chelsea on Sunday.

Champions League football will be game-changing for Newcastle’s transfer window, and Jack Grealish would undoubtedly be a huge name to help the Magpies give a good account of themselves in Europe.

With Grealish linked with a move to Newcastle, the 29-year-old’s transfer preference has been shared.

Grealish has not been able to hit the heights destined for him after making his £100m move from Aston Villa in 2021.

This season, the attacker has struggled to break into Pep Guardiola’s starting XI and has been overtaken in the pecking order by players like Savinho and Newcastle target James McAtee.

David Ornstein suggested Newcastle is an option for Grealish. However, Sun Sport have reported that while Grealish is open to leaving Manchester City this summer, it will be for a club outside of England.

The report states that Serie A leaders Napoli are keeping tabs on the England international and that Antonio Conte is a huge fan of his.

While there is interest from abroad, the report adds that Tottenham Hotspur and Villa have been linked with a move for the three-time Premier League winner.

In March, the Chronicle reported that Grealish had been offered to Newcastle, but no further reports of discussions have surfaced.

Jack Grealish would struggle to break into Newcastle United’s starting XI

Newcastle need more depth this summer, especially in attack. The right side of the Magpies’ attack is especially lacking, with Jacob Murphy, Howe’s only option in that position.

Grealish can play on either wing or as an attacking midfielder, but his versatility would do little to help him break into the starting XI.

Newcastle have the likes of Anthony Gordon and Harvey Barnes on the left. The pair have both performed well this season, so it will take a lot to get ahead of them in the pecking order.

Additionally, Howe sets his Newcastle side up without an attacking midfielder. Sandro Tonali plays in a deeper role within the midfield three, a role that Grealish would undoubtedly struggle to thrive in.
