Eddie Howe will be desperate to strengthen his Newcastle United squad over the January transfer window.
The dreaded Profit and Sustainability Rules have stopped Eddie Howe and Newcastle from truly strengthening their starting XI in recent transfer windows.
Sadly, Newcastle will have a limited budget in January with Howe warning supporters that players will likely need to be sold to make space for new arrivals.
But with Newcastle 12th in the Premier League table and in a poor run of form, reinforcements are badly needed, especially up front.
Goals have been an issue for Newcastle this season so a new right winger is the transfer priority. However, Newcastle also have their eyes on a potential striker.

Newcastle interest in Jonathan David
Newcastle have shown an interest in Jonathan David ahead of a potential move in 2025.
The 24-year-old’s contract with Lille expires in the summer, meaning he would be available to leave as a free agent. Alternatively, he could leave in the January window for a cut price.
Newcastle officials have already opened talks with David as they plot a potential deal for the Canada international, but David is demanding a £100,000 per week salary.
David has discussed a potential January exit and named his “dream” club, and Newcastle will be eager to be at the front of the queue if he does leave France.
Jonathan David scores brace for Lille ahead of January transfer window
Speculation of his future is certainly not impacting Jonathan David’s form at Lille.
In all competitions this season, David has scored 17 goals in 23 appearances, including a brace in his latest outing.
David scored twice and provided one assist on Friday as Lille beat Stade Brestois 3-1 in Ligue 1. It follows on from a brace he scored in a 2-2 draw against Montpellier at the beginning of the month.
As a result of his spectacular display, David was named in WhoScored’s Ligue 1 Team of the Week with a rating of 8.56 – a rating only beaten by two outfield players.
