Newcastle United suddenly handed Benjamin Sesko hope as transfer ‘talks’ continue

Newcastle United desperately need a lift in the transfer market, as they consider replacing Alexander Isak with Benjamin Sesko.

Geordie Boot Boys understand that Isak would like to leave Newcastle, with Liverpool currently the frontrunners to sign the 25-year-old.

However, Newcastle do not want to sell Isak. That has been their stance all summer, and it has not changed despite the Sweden international’s stance.

But work on potential replacements is being done. Newcastle want Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig if they are forced to wave goodbye to Isak, and are attempting to discover whether or not a deal is possible.

Benjamin Sesko’s replacement is being lined up as Newcastle United talks continue

It is still unclear if Sesko is interested in a move to St James’ Park, but there is suddenly more hope that RB Leipzig could be open to doing a deal.

That is because the Bundesliga club are making moves to replace the Slovenian striker.

According to Sky Germany reporter Philipp Hinze on X, Leipzig have a ‘verbal agreement’ with Romulo Cardoso over a transfer to Saxony.

The 23-year-old from Brazil is a striker for Goztepe. He could potentially arrive as Sesko’s replacement at Leipzig, as Newcastle United continue to hold ‘talks’ with his representatives. Hinze adds that Manchester United are also in the mix.

Sesko could cost up to £70million, which would make him Newcastle’s most expensive signing ever.

Why Newcastle United are under pressure to move fast for Benjamin Sesko

Newcastle do not want to sell Isak. The reality is they might have to. If Liverpool submit an acceptable offer and the player is serious about leaving then cashing in could be the best option.

A deal worth around £150million would give the Magpies serious capacity to reinvest, at a time when PSR continues to be a concern. Suddenly, that would not be the case.

However, it also explains why Newcastle need to go all out to get Sesko now. As soon as Isak leaves, every other club in the world knows that Newcastle have a huge amount of money to spend. Suddenly, targets become a little bit more expensive.

While a deal for Sesko would hint towards Isak leaving, Newcastle would be wise to get an agreement for the 22-year-old before negotiating their number 14’s departure.

It could be similar to what Leipzig are doing now. They have not accepted an offer to sell Sesko, yet his replacement has already agreed to move to the Red Bull Arena.
