As difficult as it may be for Newcastle United fans, Alexander Isak’s future remains the hot topic of discussion this summer.
Isak has asked to leave Newcastle United this summer amid interest from Liverpool, although the Reds are seemingly yet to make an official offer.
It would be gutting to lose Isak. Arguably the best forward in the world last season, the Sweden international looks almost impossible to replace even if Newcastle were to receive a record-breaking sum for his services.
At times, an exit has felt inevitable. While a thigh injury is the official reason he’s missing the pre-season tour of Asia, the fact that Newcastle’s best player is not on a commercially important venture is not a great look for the club.
Isak has rejected the offer of a new contract at Newcastle and clearly wants to leave. Liverpool seemingly have the money too, so the conditions are there.
Still, the Newcastle United owners have other ideas.

PIF insist Alexander Isak isn’t for sale
PIF have stressed all summer that Isak isn’t going anywhere. The player has three years left on his contract and Newcastle are under no immediate financial pressure to sell.
How strong they are in that stance will surely be tested soon, if and when Liverpool officially launch an offer.
Still, the messaging remains clear. On Saturday, Luke Edwards of The Daily Telegraph took to social media platform X to reveal that PIF are still suggesting Isak isn’t for sale.
Later that day, Craig Hope of The Daily Mail relayed a similar message when speaking on a video posted on YouTube from out in Singapore during the club’s pre-season tour.
“This message has been reiterated to me in the last 24 hours from the very top [of the club], they don’t want to sell their best players,” he said.
PIF are backing themselves into a corner with Alexander Isak
Isak wanted PIF to show more ambition at Newcastle and he can hardly be blamed for doing that.
There are genuine and understandable reasons as to why a player that good would want to go. He could surely earn much more money elsewhere, while Newcastle are struggling both on and off the pitch right now.
They cannot seem to sign any players. They remain without key appointments at executive level, while there have been no updates on a new training ground or stadium.
Still, PIF are backing themselves into a corner. To keep stressing that Isak isn’t for sale only to sell him anyway would be a terrible look.
There can be no going back now.
