Newcastle United really need to sign a winger right now, but that is not expected to happen.
Miguel Almiron’s transfer to Atlanta United has left the Magpies desperately short in that position, with Harvey Barnes also out injured.
Eddie Howe really needs reinforcements in attack, but they are not expected to arrive. It has been reported that Newcastle do not plan to sign anyone during the January transfer window, despite receiving a PSR boost from the departure of Almiron.
The right deal clearly is not available for Newcastle United, and Paul Mitchell is certainly not going to panic buy.
Newcastle United offered Samuel Chukwueze

But there is an opportunity to do that if Newcastle feel it is necessary. They have been offered plenty of players this month. It was claimed recently that Newcastle were offered Takefusa Kubo from Real Sociedad, but said no.
Now another option has emerged in the form of AC Milan’s Samuel Chukwueze.
According to Calciomercato, AC Milan want to sell Chukwueze a year-and-a-half after buying him from Villarreal for £23million.
The report states that AC Milan have offered the Nigerian winger to multiple Premier League clubs, with Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur, Everton and Crystal Palace named.
While the likes of Newcastle have been offered Chukwueze, there is no word on whether or not there has been a response.
It will likely be a no, with all the noise on Tyneside suggesting that there will be no new signings.
Chukwueze actually broke Toon hearts last season, scoring AC Milan’s winner against Newcastle in the Champions League at St James’ Park. That goal dumped the Magpies out of Europe, as they finished last in the ‘group of death’.
AC Milan were willing to offer players for Sandro Tonali
Newcastle being offered Chukwueze has nothing to do with Sandro Tonali, who was linked with a return to AC Milan recently.
There was speculation that he wanted to return to Italy, but Tonali’s agent rubbished those claims.
That did not stop rumours in the Italian media about AC Milan making a move to re-sign the 24-year-old.
It was even claimed in December that AC Milan could offer Newcastle multiple players to sign Tonali, with the likes of Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Fikayo Tomori listed – as well as Chukwueze.
However, Newcastle being offered Chukwueze on this occasion appears to be solely about getting the winger out of the club, rather than contributing towards a deal to re-sign Tonali.
Regardless, Chukwueze probably will not be signing for Newcastle United, while Tonali is going nowhere.
