Newcastle United are looking for an alternative to Bryan Mbeumo, and Noni Madueke is very much available.

It has been reported that Chelsea will listen to offers for Madueke, 12 months after Newcastle United tried to bring him to St James’ Park.

With Newcastle deciding that Bryan Mbeumo is too expensive, there has been a feeling that Eddie Howe could go back in for Chelsea’s number 11. It was even reported by Caught Offside that the Magpies had approached Enzo Maresca’s side regarding the possibility of signing Madueke.

However, a move to St James’ Park is seemingly not on the cards.

Noni Madueke to Newcastle United update

The Athletic have provided an update on Newcastle United’s search for a new right winger as Manchester United swoop in for Mbeumo.

They report that the Magpies are not thinking about making a move for Madueke at this moment in time.

In terms of alternatives to the £29million attacker, the Athletic state that Newcastle have discussed the likes of Anthony Elanga, Antoine Semenyo and Mohammed Kudus.

Regarding the former, Geordie Boot Boys understand that Nottingham Forest do not want to sell Elanga.

What Newcastle United must do next as winger search continues

Mbeumo is too expensive, while it is going to be difficult to get Elanga out of Nottingham Forest.

Madueke is not desired, while Semenyo and Kudus will potentially be too expensive as well.

Once again, Newcastle United are experiencing the perils of shopping domestically. Buying proven Premier League talent comes at a price, and it appears to be a price that Toon officials are unwilling to pay.

That is why Newcastle must shop overseas. It would represent a risk, but it has to be a risk worth taking.

When you look at the Magpies’ best signings in recent years, many of them have come from abroad. Alexander Isak, Bruno Guimaraes, Sandro Tonali and Sven Botman arrived from Real Sociedad, Lyon, AC Milan and Lille respectively.

While Premier League experience is incredibly valuable, it costs a premium that is seemingly beyond Newcastle’s means.
