Newcastle United are keeping a close eye on Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s situation.
Newcastle looked to sign Calvert-Lewin in the summer as they tried to broker a deal with Everton with Yankuba Minteh potentially going the other way. That deal broke down, resulting in Calvert-Lewin staying at Goodison Park and Minteh joining Brighton.
Interest in the 27-year-old striker has not stopped, however, with the Magpies are keeping tabs on Calvert-Lewin’s situation with his contract expiring in the summer.
Howe is keen to add more attacking options in January with William Osula a more long-term project and Callum Wilson still struggling with injury problems.

AC Milan interested in Calvert-Lewin
With his Toffees contract winding down, Calvert-Lewin is attracting a lot of interest.
Now in the final six months of his contract, clubs outside of England can make formal approaches for him.
According to CaughtOffside, Serie A club AC Milan are hoping to take advantage of the rules and begin talks to sign him in January.
West Ham are also reportedly interested but will have to wait until the summer to make an approach if they are not interested in paying a fee for him.
The report states that Calvert-Lewin could still be open to staying at Everton, but rejected their most recent contract offer.
The 27-year-old has scored twice in 19 Premier League appearances this season while Everton struggle for results.
Calvert-Lewin is not in a hurry to decide his future – a glimmer of hope for Newcastle who were initially put off by his wage demands in the summer.
Fiorentina also hold interest in Calvert-Lewin
Despite a contract recently being offered, Everton’s recent takeover has put his future at the club in doubt as the new owners prepare to welcome a new guard of players and staff to the club.
It was recently reported that Serie A side Fiorentina were interested in Calvert-Lewin. Like Milan, they are free to approach him now if they wish.
The Magpies are attentive to the situation but could look further afield at other attacking options.
Newcastle were reportedly interested in PAOK FC forward Stefanos Tzimas but a move for him would be more likely in the summer due to his current loan deal at Nurnberg.
In the meantime, Newcastle can rely on Alexander Isak whose goal against Tottenham Hotspur made it seven in a row in the Premier League. He is now just four games away from equalling Jamie Vardy’s record.
