Newcastle United are now looking to ramp up their plans to sign new players amid updates on Giorgio Scalvini, James Trafford and Yoane Wissa.
Newcastle want to sign a new defender this summer, while they have also gone big on their pursuit of a new striker.
While Alexander Isak looks set to stay at Newcastle, Eddie Howe is keen to bring in some added cover and competition for the Sweden international.
Wissa is a Newcastle target this summer, with the club understood to be keen to ramp up their interest in the Brentford forward imminently.
Newcastle have made a bid for Trafford and while that was rejected, talks are believed to be ongoing.
With that in mind, here’s a look at the latest Newcastle United transfer news and rumours.

Newcastle United retain interest in Giorgio Scalvini amid U-turn
According to Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie, Newcastle retain a “keen interest” in Scalvini.
Having failed to sign Hugo Ekitike, Howe is looking to turn his attention to adding a new central defender to the Newcastle United squad.
To that end, Scalvini is understood to be a target, along with Juventus defender Nicolo Savona.
Valencia’s Cesar Tarrega is said to be another option.
James Trafford not training with Burnley

Newcastle are looking to land Trafford, around a year after they initially targeted him.
Trafford wasn’t pictured at Burnley’s pre-season training camp earlier this week amid suggestions Newcastle remain in talks with the Clarets over a potential move.
Burnley want £40million for Trafford, a fee that would make him the most expensive British goalkeeper in history.
According to journalist Joel Bland on social media platform X, Trafford isn’t training with Burnley as Newcastle hope to finally wrap up a deal.
Yoane Wissa surprise emerges

Tottenham are also interested in Wissa, with the north London club having appointed former Brentford boss Thomas Frank as their new manager this summer.
Still, it seems there is some surprise that Spurs are yet to make a move.
According to GIVEMESPORT, that could open the door for Newcastle to make a move this summer.
Wissa scored 19 Premier League goals last season and is said to be open to a move to a Champions League club.
