Newcastle United have spent a lot of money on transfers since PIF bought the club, but how much exactly?
It’s nearly four years since PIF’s takeover of Newcastle United was finally completed and the team has completely changed since.
Eddie Howe was quickly hired to replace Steve Bruce, and the manager has transformed the side thanks to the millions he has been able to spend on new players.
The manager finally brought the club’s long wait for a trophy to an end in 2025 by defeating Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final and secured a return to Champions League football for 2025-26.
As a result, even more spending can be expected in the summer transfer window, but here is how much cash the owners have splashed so far.

Newcastle United transfer spend under PIF ownership
Thanks to their Saudi Arabian backing, Newcastle are now one of the richest clubs in the world and have utilised that newfound wealth to sign many fantastic footballers.
PIF are now into their eighth transfer window since taking the reins and have so far spent a massive £730.85m on 27 different players, though that figure includes bonus payments that might not have been fulfilled yet.
Unsurprisingly, PIF smashed the club’s transfer record with the £63m they spent on Alexander Isak in 2022 and have also paid massive fees for Sandro Tonali, Bruno Guimaraes and Anthony Gordon.
The figure would be even higher if PSR restrictions didn’t force Newcastle to reduce their spending in 2024-25, as they sold Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh to stay within the rules.
However, after careful planning and strategic sales, Newcastle are now able to spend heavily again this summer.
